Reporting an Observation

When you report your marine mammal observations, you are contributing to knowledge of their range and distribution: such data play a critical role in their protection.

Data collected by MMON are centralized and made public on the data viewing platform. There are a number of ways to report your sightings, depending on your user profile.

Are you a boater or a kayaker?

Are you a ship operator or a whale-watching outfitter?

To become a member of the Marine Mammal Observation Network and receive your own customized observation kit, send an email to info@romm.ca.

Observations can be reported in one of two ways:

Directly online (application coming soon), or by manually filling out the data charts, scanning them and then emailing them to the person in your organization responsible for submitting them to MMON.
