Mariner’s Guide

A Mariner’s Guide to Whales in the Northwest Atlantic and the Eastern Arctic was developed for ship operators in the aforementioned regions to provide information on the presence of whales and inform them on sectors where extra caution is warranted. This tool includes information on the issue of ship strikes, fact sheets on the species of whales present in the area as well as range maps of cetacean populations of the Northwest Atlantic.

This guide is an information and awareness tool designed to encourage mariners to be extra vigilant in order to minimize the risk of collision with a cetacean.
